Dr. (Mrs) Priscilia Uhuanmwen Imade is a Doctor of Optometry who has garnered an O.D,(1999), an MSc. PublicHealth,(2010) and a Ph.D, Public Health (in view) across three Universities in Nigeria and South America. She has attended numerous seminars, workshops and conferences both locally and internationally, acquiring International Certification in Community Eye Health Significantly, her repertoire of skills, though acquired at great personal cost, has been shared freely with a multitude of other Optometrists through her trainings of interns and presentations at Nigerian Optometric Associationconferences, educating and advancing the practice of Optometry Nationally and Internationally.She has equally extended her wealth of knowledge in eye-care to the generalpopulace through advocacies and public education to thesociety at large.
She is presently the Chairperson Women Optometrist in Nigeria,Lagos State Chapter, the Assistant National Secretary of the Nigerian Optometrist Association and the Assistant Secretary General of the Health Care Providers Association of Nigeria. By virtue of the different portfolios she occupies in the eye-care industry, she has made guest appearances in different media agencies discussing eye-health and prevention of avoidable blindness in Nigeria. She writes and reviews publications; books,newspapers, bulletins and magazines. She is dynamic and proactive, with the ability to transmit knowledge through training courses,providing Public Health Consultancy Services through a number of visible platforms. She has organized several occupational health, safety and eye health talks/seminars/workshops,for various institutions, organizations (local and international), schools,churches and clubs. She currently provides consultancy services and occupational eye health and safety for several driving schools and other multinational companies. These have in a very significant way, contributed in creating awareness on eye-health, advocating as per how much and how well a good knowledge of prevention of visual impairments can benefit the society. She has equally gotten several recognition awards in these regards.
As the Medical Director and Chief Executive Officer of MODERN EYE CLINIC, Lagos, (a top-class eye care facility she built from scratch), she has used the platform to promote her vision in preventive eye care through offering beneficial vision care services to the public. Her desire and passion to keep the populace informed about eye-health in order to prevent visual impairments or complete blindness motivated her to reach out to the public and occupational institutions on eye-health enlightenment campaigns. Her regular seminars on“Children Vision Care”, “School Vision Screening programme”, “Driving and Eye Care” organized for students, workers and motorists made her very popular in her community.
She’s a quintessential mother and wife, and holds tenaciously to her faith as a dedicated member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. ( RCCG).
